Customized Mare's Leg Holster for Henry, Rossi Lever

Since Steve McQueen showed me how cool they are, I have been wanting a custom-made Mare's Leg for my Henry Rossi. Holster options for this type of firearm are limited and expensive. Fortunately, I make my living by sewing, so I designed a holster that meets my needs.

The holster is made to be worn on my Koolbak support belt, but it can also be used with any other belt. It is, however, quite heavy due to its construction. I have created four variations of this holster: left or right-handed draw, and with either a straight or angled design.

The holster is crafted from two layers of 1000D heavy-duty nylon that has been coated for durability. Sandwiched between these layers is a foam core, providing both structure and cushioning. The heavy-duty design ensures the holster can withstand the weight and demands of the Mare's Leg.

Flexibility in carrying options was a key consideration in the design. The holster can be worn on either hip, allowing the user to choose their preferred draw orientation. The angled version offers an alternative angle for the firearm, potentially suiting different user preferences or draw techniques.

Crafting this holster was a labor of love, as I have long admired the iconic Mare's Leg and wanted to create a custom solution to carry it. The limited availability and high cost of commercially-produced options prompted me to take matters into my own hands and design a holster that meets my specific needs.

Through my sewing expertise, I have been able to produce a holster that not only looks great but also provides the necessary support and protection for my prized Mare's Leg. The multi-layered construction and attention to detail ensure the holster is both functional and durable, able to withstand the rigors of regular use.

Whether worn on the left or right hip, in a straight or angled configuration, this custom-made Mare's Leg holster allows me to proudly display and safely carry my firearm. It is a testament to my skills as a seamstress and my passion for this unique and iconic weapon. With the holster in hand, I can now enjoy the same sense of cool that Steve McQueen exuded when he first introduced me to the allure of the Mare's Leg.
